Professional Experience

 

2019 Organizer, Cross River Connections Exhibition, The Phipps, Hudson, WI

• Coordinated 9 person exhibition with a student from UW River Falls, to be in conjunction with The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts

• Curated and installed ceramic pieces in gallery

 

2018 Organizer, Pots and Prints Exhibition, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN

• Curated a 2 person exhibition of 5 prints and 5 pots

• Created and installed functional pots in exhibiting space

 

2018 Collaborative Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (CURI) with Peter Nelson, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN

• Collaborated with a professor to execute design and creation of a 12’ tall plywood cake sculpture

• Developed carpentry skills, became comfortable power tools

• Planned out other elements in the exhibition to make a cohesive show

• Installed additional compositions in gallery space to actualize curated layout

 

2018-2019 Studio Assistant, Judy Saye-Willis, Saye-Willis Studio, Northfield, MN

• Dye fabrics with natural pigments using shibori techniques

• Maintain studio cleanliness and organizes space to ensure an efficient workspace

• Executed and installed wall hanging textiles in collaboration with a practicing artist

 

2017-2018 Collections Worker, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN

• Repaired and cleaned damaged, framed artworks in order to be put back on display

• Built mounts and supports for 3-dimensional pieces entering the college’s permanent collection

 

2016-2019 Ceramic Studio Assistant, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN

• Tutor students enrolled in class on skills being taught by Professor

• Communicate with the professor to best assess what skills students in class are needing additional help with

• Make clay and glazes for students in ceramic classes, maintaining ample access to materials

• Fire work in electric and gas kilns

 

2016-2019 Museum Worker, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN

• Repair walls of the gallery in preparation of work being installed

• Install work in the gallery to actualize curated exhibition plan given by the museum director

 

Teaching Experience

 

2019 Student Educator, Clay Siblings Project, Minneapolis, MN

• Teach middle and high school students clay who do not have well funded art programs

• Demo wheel and hand-building processes, assist students in learning these techniques

2018 Workshop Assistant, Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC

• Programmed electric kilns to bisque and glaze fire clay forms

• Tracked materials used for each student during the two-week workshop

• Mixed glazes to be used by the 12 workshop participants
